How Tour Us Went from a Simple Idea to the Ultimate Social Travel Platform
The Tour Us you know today wasn’t the original idea we had. We always knew we wanted to create something within the travel industry, and we had a passion for meeting new people and connecting with fellow travelers. But we didn’t initially know how to merge these two passions.
The first version of Tour Us was centered around hosting trips and recruiting people to join, but convincing strangers to commit to a trip proved much harder than we anticipated. Plus, reaching the right people to make the experience more enjoyable became a challenge, and we started losing money—especially with cancellations. The whole process just wasn’t as seamless as we had hoped.
Then, during a family vacation in the Dominican Republic, a lightbulb moment struck. I was the only one my age in the group, but I was constantly meeting other young people at the resort. I thought, “There’s got to be a better way to know who’s here.” A few months later, I had another similar experience in Orlando, staying at a community-style resort—basically private homes in a neighborhood setting, designed for vacationers. While it offered privacy, it lacked the social activities I was craving. It made me realize that there needed to be a better way for travelers to share social experiences while on vacation.
That’s when the concept for Tour Us was born: a platform that helps people connect with fellow travelers who are already at their resort or vacation destination, making it easier to meet new people, share experiences, and enhance the travel journey. No more feeling alone in a new place, no more awkwardness—just a seamless way to connect with like-minded travelers.
Now, Tour Us is here to make vacationing more social, engaging, and unforgettable.
